Oxleas Allied Health Professionals (AHP) Preceptorship Programme
I have been enjoying the portfolio immensely – it will be so helpful throughout my professional career, and one less thing to worry about as it is clear and straightforward to complete.
This is a brilliant programme to be a part of, I really enjoy the monthly meetings and feeling like part of a wider AHP community.
The programme is really helpful. You can share your thoughts and concerns because you know that everyone is in the same situation with you and ‘it’s okay’ to feel like that during your first steps.
It has had a positive impact on patient care, because this has helped me identify areas that I need to expand and sometimes putting theory as well as practical tips/advice to provide the best care for patients.
I just wanted to thank you all so much for all the time and effort that went into the sessions I’ve attended over the past 9 months. They have been incredibly beneficial as well as it being nice having an opportunity to network with other newly qualified AHPS. It’s also always a lovely opportunity to rekindle that AHP passion.
It is a great way to evidence the amount of learning and experience you have gained as a band 5 practitioner and newly qualified professional. It allows you to formulate the learning in a succinct and concise way, demonstrating skill and development in an array of clinical areas.
The Preceptorship, and in particular completing the portfolio, has helped me to take on leadership roles as a band 5, for example supervising students and OTAs and working on service development, which makes me feel more ready to progress towards band 6.
I have gained a huge amount from the preceptorship program, not only has it helped me build my clinical knowledge and skills, improve clinical reasoning through case discussions and break out rooms, gain confidence in my own ability and make me feel more at place as a qualified clinician, but through providing evidence for my preceptorship competencies, I have built up an extensive portfolio that has helped me evidence competencies for a band 6 role in my team.
