I have taken on a lot of the leadership qualities / what is involved with leadership, I used the session of the supervision and what I took from there with the students and my therapy enabler and felt I was better equipped to manage it. I can better recognize the difference between what a band 5 and band 6 is / does.
I would strongly recommend the beyond preceptorship to my friends and colleagues. Having not completed the first preceptorship programme, I was unsure of what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised that the course was full of beneficial training and support to help progress in my career and develop my abilities. My favourite part was learning about the wider service opportunities available and being able to listen to and share professional stories with not only those on the course, but also from the guest speakers. It was a delight to get to know Felicity and Hannah and to be able to see all of the effort that they put into helping others develop.
It allowed me to set, follow and adapt goals that I had made suited to myself, within a busy time a work these helped me in staying focused, it helped me not only adapt my own supervision but the supervision I provide with my students and support staff and allowed me to build the confidence to have a conversation (which I initially found very difficult) with my b8.
I would recommend both programmes! Both are very well lead and are fantastic learning opportunities for new 5/6s
I am happy that completing this beyond preceptorship has ultimate got me my band 6 role and I am excited to what the future holds. I also think if you ladies were to do the band 6 to band 7 program I would also come to that! I also think the knowledge / awareness of the AHP preceptorship is important and I’m happy my trust made me aware of it, I think for all junior newly qualified members should have access to these programs and support, they are really important especially in this current age of some NHS trusts where there is lack / little support when starting.
The preceptorship programme not only provided much support as a b5 but created a community that I felt comfortable voicing my opinions to. Once I completed that and moved to by b6 post (prior to enrolling onto the Beyond Preceptorship programme) I felt somewhat lost and didn’t have much guidance from my team.
